An
inventive credit sequence sets the scene for this unusual comedy set in
contemporary Santiago. Cristina is a lonely nurse, new to city life,
who enjoys playing arcade games and imagines that she is a kung-fu
fighter. Tristan is a depressed
architect whose life seems to be falling apart as things go wrong at work and
his girlfriend dumps him. One day
Cristina finds Tristan’s briefcase in a dumpster and, more concerned for his
welfare than anything else, she decides to trace him and ends up stalking him
in a benign yet obsessive fashion. Both
of them are lonely and searching for their own identities and we see the world
from their individual perspectives. Scherson
uses sound, music and fantasy sequences imaginatively to show how different
people experience the world in less than ordinary ways.
