We're quite proud of the fact that we try to choose films which:

• Can be from anywhere in the world.
• Are contemporary (usually shown within 18 months of release). This is important because we can all think of our favourites from times gone by and by just showing them we'd miss out on many of the classics of the future.
• Aren't the usual mainstream Hollywood blockbusters. These are likely to come to the main cinema in any case.
• Can sometimes be humourous, intelligent, thought-provoking, and yes, sometimes challenging.
• Try to present a balance to our varied membership.
